Prevent Radicalization among Youth
Brainwashing is a bad affair. It undermines the dream of the youth to be autonomous and independent from the will of others. If you are young and interested in understanding how psychological manipulation occurs, this campaign is right for you. It will be fascinating to explore together the mechanisms which different ideologies employ to deprive youngsters of their freedom. To make this adventure even more sensational, we will produce a set of special videos which will help us to detect ideologies behind narratives. In the end of this experience, you will see the results: your critical skills sharpened, your knowledge about the world increased and your interest multiplied!
The Extremely Critical campaign aims to develop the critical skills of the young generations, who have a great intellectual and human potential. By becoming autonomous and intellectually independent, youngsters will be able to reject every effort made by extremists to wash their brain. We will produce a set of videos that will deconstruct, expose and challenge extremist propaganda through critical thinking and reasoning. In every episode, we will take one extremist group/ideology as case study (ISIS/Daesh, Al-Qaeda, right-wing extremist and neo-Nazism, left wing extremism) and we will deconstruct its propaganda through critical thinking mechanisms.
While they seem to be ideologically located at the extremes of the political spectrum, they are uncannily similar in that they both are appealing to people’s fears. Basically, this initiative aims to develop critical thinking tools and is mostly targeting youth who is already sensitive to extremist ideas. Every video of this campaign will target youth that is sensitive to a particular extremist propaganda affecting the European region. Therefore, the final 5 case studies will include some of the most dangerous ideologies that can be found in Europe. During the campaign, three offline activities will be organised in the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy.
